This is a final check through of your work to catch misspelled words and other glaring errors that are often easy for an author to overlook. This is usually a final check through before submission. At this point, you’ve usually had a developmental & copyedit and just need a polish!

Rates:

• I take my rates from the EFA (Editorial Freelancer’s Association)

• Fiction: $3-$5 per page

• Nonfiction: $5-$7.50 per page (includes fact checking)

What you will receive:

• An copy of your marked up manuscript edited with Track Changes

• Marginal comments calling out the grammar rule from Chicago Manual of Style (or other style book we agree on)

• A letter explaining what I’ve commented on and what I’ve changed (this will, of course, be noted with Track Changes for the author’s approval or rejection).

• Two read-throughs. Once you go through the manuscript and accept or reject the changes, we can go through any questions and I will clean up the final manuscript for you.

If you want a little more in depth edit, I’ll go through your project and, in addition to catching errors and misspellings, I’ll make sure all the grammar is correct—commas, run-on sentences, you name it. We’ll get the piece to shine.

This is a very thorough edit focusing on character development, plot points, and point of view among other devices. I’ll dive into storylines: what motivates your main character and do the scenes included drive this narrative forward? Is the dialogue consistent for different character’s voices? This includes line editing—sentence structure, word choice, the overall flow. You can also tell me what you’d like to focus on and we can go from there. I won’t be looking at grammar here (unless you want to combine two services).

Fiction: $7.50-$10.00 per page

Nonfiction: $10.00-$12.50 per page (includes fact checking)

What you will receive:

• An copy of your marked up manuscript edited with Track Changes

• Marginal comments calling out line editing change and other devices from Chicago Manual of Style (or other style book we agree on)

• A detailed letter explaining what I’ve commented on and what I’ve changed (this will, of course, be noted with Track Changes for the author’s approval or rejection).

• A reverse outline of your entire manuscript. Here, I go line by line through the story and summarize each one with a call out for dialogue, breaks, or timelines. This is a really great way to see if you have a balanced narrative.

• A phone call or Zoom meeting to go through any questions you have once you’ve received my edits.

• Two read-throughs. Once you go through the manuscript and accept or reject the changes, I will go through and clean up the final manuscript for you.

• 30 days of chat through email for any further questions or support.
